Psychodynamic Counsellor
About me
Do you have a space in your life to sit, reflect and be truly honest?
Are you juggling overwhelming emotions such as anxiety, depression, anger, loss, frustration and you feel alone with your thoughts?
Are you struggling to connect with people in your life?
Do you feel lost at work or in your home life?
Do you tend to self-sabotage or doubt your own ability?
Often we choose to invest in our physical health, our home, our lifestyle, hobbies, vacations, but is there sometimes a reluctance to do the same with our mental health? Perhaps hoping the issues will correct themselves?
What to expect:
In our weekly 50 minute sessions, we will work together to create a confidential, calm and holding environment for us to discuss and explore why you may feel this way. We will look at your unconscious thoughts and patterns which may be stopping you from what you truly want.
I am led by what you choose to bring to our sessions and you will be encouraged to be yourself. I strive to maintain an inclusive space that is LGBTQIA+ friendly and diverse, inclusive of people from all walks of life.
My training in Psychodynamic Counselling creates a framework for our sessions where as I learn more about you I will create links to your relationships, traumas, events and childhood experiences; we can think and make sense of these together. We can discover why you feel this way and work towards freeing yourself from these issues and creating more peace in your mind, inner world and external life.
Who will benefit:
Those with anxiety, panic attacks, depression, OCD, ADHD, abusive relationships, sexual abuse, eating disorders, and addictions are just a few areas of experience I have worked with but I welcome anybody who is feeling stuck and ready for change to reach out.
Difficulties in our past tend to show up in our present in the forms of poor relationships with money, food, a lack of control over our emotions, inability to allow ourselves to rest and recharge, pleasure-seeking through overspending or relying on substances to numb these feelings. I will provide a non judgemental space to air these issues and we will identify together what you hope to seek from therapy.
Where we can meet:
As well as working in person in the comfortable rooms in The Stephenson Centre, I also offer sessions via Zoom.
