Person Centred Counsellor
Polly is a warm, appraochable Person-Centred counsellor who has worked both in the private and charitable sectors. Her experience over the years has helped indviduals from a variety of ages with a wide range of issues some of which include people who are in crisis, relationship problems such as divorce or separation, family difficulties/relationships, bereavement and loss and issues relating to the pressures of living in a world driven by social media. In recent years her counselling has included helping students studying with A-levels and degrees.
Her work focuses on creating a supportive therapeutic relationship, offering a safe and calm space where individuals can share difficult feelings and emotions. The relationship formed with individuals is an important and beneficial component. A relationship in which the individual feels heard, no longer fearful or ashamed, 'held' but not trapped, noticed but not judged. In this space the individual's mind can settle and hope can follow. There are no expectations about how an individual should be in the counselling room; the only aim will be to work towards their personal goals and seek out positive change.
Polly has specific experience of working with individuals suffering from trauma and loss and has also worked in primary education with children with moderate learning difficulties. She brings warmth, care and support to her practice and a knowledge of the challenges that individuals face whilst supporting others with issues or that they are suffering from themselves. Working with individuals she hopes to find the balance in their life either personally or professionally, whichever they are looking for.
Polly is a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and holds a BA (Hons) in Person Centred Counselling as well as a diploma in Person Centred Counselling.
