arranging your first appointment...
Arranging your first appointment can feel daunting and can take some time to build up the courage to pick up the phone or send the email and make the first step. We understand this and will support you through the process of finding a therapist who can help you.
When you call the Stephenson Centre you are likely to speak to our Therapy Services Manager, Poppy Harvey-Lee, who will take your call and discuss what you are looking for. You may prefer a male or female therapist or you may have a particular type of therapy in mind or it maybe you just want to talk to someone. Whatever your situation we will try and find a therapist on a day and at a time that suits you.
If Poppy is not available when you call - (her hours are Monday to Thursday, 9.30am - 3pm and Fridays 9.30am - 2pm) - you will be invited to leave a message and either she or one of our counsellors or psychotherapists will call you back within a short while.
Alternatively, you can email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and either our Therapy Services Manager or Director will respond very quickly.
We look forward to hearing from you.
We recognise the importance of feeling comfortable and as safe as possible when coming into therapy. Without this it can feel difficult to express how we feel and the therapy can be ineffective and sometimes we just do not connect with the therapist and we may not understand why.
For this reason, we feel an initial or a first appointment is really important to ensure you feel comfortable and confident that the therapy and the therapist can be helpful. The fee for the initial appointment is the same as any further appointments you may have with that particular therapist but at the end of that first appointment, the therapist will suggest you take some time to think about the session and make direct contact with her/him if you feel you would like to continue to see them - the therapist will give you their contact details to take away with you.
If you feel you would like to contact us to arrange a first appointment to see one of our counsellors or psychotherapists, then do get in touch either by phone or email or if you want to find out more about our therapists or services our Therapy Co-ordinator will be happy to help.
