Psychodynamic Counsellor - Children, Young People and Adults

Clare is a psychodynamic counsellor who works with pre-teen children, teenagers and adults.  She offers both short-term focused counselling sessions and longer-term sessions allowing time to explore issues in greater depth.

Clare provides a calm, confidential and non-judgemental space for clients to bring whatever thoughts and feelings are troubling them. She knows that asking for help isn’t easy and she hopes both she and her clients can work together to begin to make sense of what is happening.

Clare has over 25 years experience supporting children, young people and families within youth work, education, local government and community settings.  She decided to train as a counsellor later in her career after realising the importance of the counselling process when people feel stuck, unseen and isolated.

Clare has spent the last four years working as a counsellor at a charity supporting children, young people and their parents/carers facing various challenges. Her experience includes working with clients who have encountered loss, abuse, friendship and relationship issues, identity struggles, loneliness, stress, anxiety, depression and trauma.

Alongside her work with young people and children Clare is happy to support adult clients allowing them the space in counselling to begin to understand their own emotional worlds and needs. She has a particular interest in family dynamics, step and blended families and how caring for others impacts our own mental health.

Clare uses mainly talking and listening therapy but where clients have trouble putting thoughts and feelings into words she will offer the use of art and craft materials. This can be helpful for children, young people and adults.

Clare holds a Masters Degree in Psychodynamic Counselling and is a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP).
