Specialist Psychodynamic Counsellor for Children and Young People

Louise is a Child and Young Persons Counsellor; she joined the Turner centre following the completion of her master’s degree (MA) in Psychodynamic counselling.

She works predominately with older children and teenagers, who are experiencing difficult periods in their lives. Louise has worked in a variety of settings within the youth work and social care world.

She feels the turning point of her career was spending five years supporting students that had been excluded from main stream education. It was within this role, that she realised the importance of nurturing, and understanding an individual’s mental health, specifically when a young person is trying to grow into their best possible self.

Louise’s counselling experience has seen her support young people with a variety of challenges, including; self-harm, trust difficulties and understanding traumatic experiences, to name a few.

Louise understands how daunting starting the counselling process can be, and therefore aims to create a non-judgmental, safe space for every young person.

She holds a master’s degree (MA) in Psychodynamic Counselling Children and Young People and a BA (Hons) degree in Youth and Community work.
